Nicaragua El Penon "Blueberry Candy"


Markus Fisher, who runs the estate and agronomist, Martin Montero, have been focussing on producing high quality coffee for the specialty market. The estate is fully independent, using its own resources at every point from seed to export container. La Bastilla works closely with the Foundation for Rural Education and Entrepreneurship which engages farm youth to promote quality education.

The Nicaraguan El Penon was one of our team’s favourite coffees this year and we are absolutely delighted to welcome it back.

Nicknamed the “Blueberry Candy”, this coffee lives up to it’s name - and then some! It is intensely blueberry and thyme on the nose. The first sip is lime acidity, followed by the dominant notes of delicious, ripe blueberries and a candy-like sweetness. With milk, this coffee is transformed into a blueberry muffin.
